When is liposuction recommended for submental fullness?

The surgeon examines the underside of the chin, jawline, skin looseness, neck structure, and the distribution of fat. Liposuction is more focused on removing a local deposit than tightening substantially loose skin. Fullness can also reflect skin laxity, muscle or bone structure, or another swelling, so the cause should be assessed before choosing a procedure.

Book an in-person assessment with a qualified surgeon. Mention changes that appeared suddenly, pain, swallowing difficulty, breathing symptoms, medicines, smoking, allergies, and earlier neck or facial procedures. Have new or rapidly growing neck fullness assessed before arranging cosmetic treatment, especially with pain, fever, trouble swallowing, voice change, or breathing difficulty. After surgery, call the clinic for worsening pain, spreading redness, drainage, fever, marked asymmetry, or rapidly increasing swelling. Breathing difficulty is an emergency.

Ask whether the fullness is mainly fat, loose skin, or another structure, how much skin contraction can reasonably be expected, and what alternatives may fit your anatomy. Confirm the recovery plan and the warning signs that need urgent review.
