When is JAK inhibitor treatment recommended for vitiligo?

Vitiligo causes areas of skin to lose pigment when pigment-producing cells are affected. JAK inhibitors can reduce immune signals involved in this process. A dermatologist considers the distribution of patches, whether new areas are appearing, the age of the patient, treatment goals, and whether the formulation is appropriate for the affected areas.
