Cystic acne involves deep, tender inflammation rather than only surface blackheads or small spots. The lesions can remain active for a long time and may leave lasting changes in texture or colour. A dermatologist weighs the severity, location, scarring, emotional effect, previous medicines, and relevant medical history. Isotretinoin targets oil production and pore blockage, but it is not a casual add-on: the clinician must review interactions, pregnancy-related safety, mental health concerns, and monitoring requirements before prescribing it.

Book a dermatology assessment instead of squeezing or puncturing deep lesions. Bring a complete medication and supplement list and mention liver problems, high blood fats, mood symptoms, allergies, and any possibility of pregnancy.
