What this means
HER2 is a protein signal that can drive the growth of some breast cancer cells. A pathology report may assess HER2 using tissue testing, and an unclear result may need additional testing. Treatment decisions also consider whether disease is confined to the breast or nearby nodes, whether it has spread elsewhere, hormone-receptor results, overall health, and the purpose of treatment.
