The test uses a sample from the womb lining during a planned cycle. Laboratory analysis looks for patterns associated with a receptive lining and produces a suggested transfer window. Implantation depends on several factors, including embryo development, the womb cavity, hormones and general health, so the result cannot explain every failed transfer or guarantee a pregnancy. The test is not usually the first step after one unsuccessful cycle.

Contact your clinic for heavy bleeding, fever, worsening pelvic pain, unusual discharge or feeling unwell after the sample. Seek urgent care for severe pain, fainting or heavy bleeding that does not settle. Report a positive pregnancy test and any pain or bleeding promptly during fertility treatment.
