When is breast biopsy recommended for fibroadenoma?

Fibroadenoma is a benign breast lump, often smooth and mobile. A clinician combines the breast examination with ultrasound or mammography when appropriate. A biopsy removes or samples cells or tissue so a pathologist can examine them. It may be useful when the lump does not match its scan appearance, grows, feels unusual, or occurs in a setting where a more precise diagnosis is needed.
