When is Botox recommended for forehead lines?

Forehead lines commonly deepen when the frontalis muscle lifts the eyebrows. Botulinum toxin reduces selected muscle activity, which can make movement-related creases less pronounced. It cannot restore lost skin elasticity or erase lines that remain strongly visible when the face is relaxed. The forehead and brow muscles work together, so treating one area without assessing the surrounding muscles can affect brow position or expression. A personal examination is needed to plan placement.

Tell the clinician what expression you want to retain and whether you have heavy brows, uneven brows, eyelid drooping, headaches, facial weakness, or prior treatments. Share your medicines and any history of neuromuscular illness. Ask about expected movement, bruising, headache, temporary brow or eyelid changes, and when to arrange follow-up. Daily sun protection can help limit further skin damage, while moisturising may improve comfort and surface appearance.

Have new or rapidly changing forehead creases assessed if they occur with severe headache, facial weakness, vision changes, or other neurological symptoms. After an injection, contact the provider about marked asymmetry or drooping. Get urgent help for trouble breathing, swallowing, or speaking, or for a widespread allergic reaction.
