When is blood transfusion support recommended for aplastic anaemia?

Aplastic anaemia occurs when bone marrow does not make enough blood cells. Low red cells can reduce oxygen delivery and cause tiredness, dizziness or breathlessness. Low platelets can make bruising or bleeding easier, while low white cells can make infections harder to control. Red-cell transfusion supports oxygen delivery; platelet transfusion supports clotting. The decision depends on symptoms, bleeding, infection, examination findings, blood-count trends and any planned treatment.
