During the immediate phase, clinicians may adjust pressure carefully because an abrupt change can be harmful in some situations. Later, a regular treatment plan may reduce strain on blood vessels and help lower the chance of another stroke. The target and timing should come from the stroke team, not from a general home-monitoring rule.

Use the same validated monitor and sit quietly before measuring if your team has asked you to check at home. Keep a log and take it to follow-up. Take each dose as prescribed, and check before using cold remedies, anti-inflammatory painkillers, or supplements because some can affect pressure or interact with treatment. Do not change doses because a single reading is high or low. Rehabilitation appointments and reviews of kidney function, falls, or dizziness can help the team refine your plan.

Call emergency services immediately if facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, sudden vision loss, severe imbalance, or new confusion appears, even if it improves.
