When is antibiotic treatment recommended for helicobacter pylori infection?

Helicobacter pylori, often called H. pylori, is a bacterium that can live in the stomach lining. It may contribute to indigestion, inflammation, ulcers and other stomach problems, although some people have no symptoms. Treatment normally combines more than one medicine, often antibiotics with an acid-reducing medicine. The exact combination depends on allergies, previous antibiotic exposure, local resistance patterns and test results. A breath test, stool test or sample taken during an endoscopy may be used to confirm infection.

Take every medicine at the prescribed times and finish the planned course unless your clinician changes it. Missing doses can make eradication harder.
