What to expect from tumour removal surgery for spinal cord compression

Spinal cord compression is treated as an urgent problem because pressure can affect movement, sensation and bladder or bowel control. The surgeon may remove tumour or bone pressing on the cord and may use screws, rods or other support to stabilize the spine.

Rehabilitation may address walking, transfers, strength and continence, and follow-up imaging may assess the spine and treatment response.
