Improvement is judged by comparing the treated area with nearby skin over time, rather than by expecting an immediate change. The original trigger, such as irritation from products or repeated rubbing, may need attention as well; otherwise new darkening can continue while old pigment fades.

Follow the prescribed strength and schedule, and use clean, dry skin unless your clinician gives different instructions. Keep the product away from the eyes, lips, nostrils, and broken skin.
