What to Expect from Under-Eye Filler for Tear Trough Hollows

Tear trough hollows are a contour change along the inner lower eyelid and upper cheek. Filler is placed in or near the hollow to create a smoother transition between these areas. It cannot correct every cause of a tired-looking eye: pigmentation, visible vessels, puffiness, loose skin, and cheek volume loss may need separate discussion.

The clinician should examine the lower eyelid, cheek support, skin quality, and any tendency to swell before recommending treatment. A small amount may be used initially, with the result judged after swelling has settled. The area can look uneven temporarily while the product integrates.

Share allergies, eye conditions, previous filler, bleeding problems, and medicines or supplements that affect bleeding. After injection, avoid rubbing or pressing the area and follow the clinic's advice about exercise, heat, alcohol, and skincare. Sleep with your head slightly raised if advised. Bruising, tenderness, and puffiness can occur, so plan important photographs or events after the early recovery period.

Contact the injector urgently for unusual or increasing pain, pale or mottled skin, marked swelling on one side, or changes in vision. These symptoms can signal a serious complication requiring immediate assessment. Also report redness, warmth, discharge, or worsening tenderness, which may indicate infection.

Ask what is causing the hollow, which product and injection plane are proposed, how swelling will be managed, and what symptoms require an urgent call.
