What to expect from prescription antiperspirant for intertrigo

Intertrigo develops where heat, moisture, friction, and close skin contact irritate a fold. Reducing sweat may help keep the area drier, but prescription antiperspirant does not replace evaluation for yeast, bacteria, contact irritation, or another skin condition. It may sting or worsen redness if applied to raw, cracked, or actively inflamed skin.

Use the product only on the area and schedule your clinician recommends. Keep the fold gently clean and dry, pat rather than rub, and choose breathable clothing. Do not layer it over creams, powders, or an anti-infective treatment unless you have been told the order is suitable. Stop and seek advice if the rash becomes more painful after application.

Arrange a clinical review if the fold is spreading, weeping, cracked, foul-smelling, or not improving with the advised plan. Seek prompt care for fever, rapidly increasing pain, pus, marked swelling, or redness extending beyond the fold.
