What to expect from operative hysteroscopy for uterine septum

A clinician confirms the uterine cavity and passes a hysteroscope through the vagina and cervix. Small instruments can then cut or remove the septum so the cavity has a more typical shape. You may have anaesthesia or sedation, so you should arrange the required escort and follow fasting instructions if your team gives them.

Afterwards, mild cramping, pelvic discomfort, watery discharge or light bleeding can occur. Your team may recommend a short period of rest and explain when to resume sex, tampons, bathing or attempts to conceive.
