Submental liposuction removes a selected fat pocket beneath the chin through a narrow cannula. Removing fat alone may not address every cause of a less defined chin or neck.

The procedure uses an anaesthesia plan chosen for the area and your health. Small entry points may be tender, bruised, numb, or swollen afterward. A support garment may be recommended, and the early appearance can look fuller before swelling subsides.

Tell the clinician about medicines, allergies, smoking or vaping, previous procedures, and dental or facial treatments. Arrange a safe journey home if sedation is used. Keep the sites clean, use the support garment as instructed, sleep in the recommended position, and avoid pressure or strenuous activity until cleared.

Contact the clinic if swelling is rapidly increasing, pain is worsening, the wound drains, redness spreads, or one side changes markedly. Seek urgent help for trouble breathing, chest pain, fainting, or swelling that threatens the mouth or throat. New weakness or severe neck symptoms also require prompt assessment.
