What to expect from endometrial receptivity testing for implantation failure

The test analyses activity in cells from the uterine lining during a prepared cycle. A clinician passes a narrow sampling device through the cervix to collect tissue. The timing of hormones and the biopsy is recorded carefully because the result is linked to that specific cycle setup.

The report may describe the lining as receptive, not receptive at the sampled time, or inconclusive, depending on the test used. A result is one piece of fertility information. It does not assess embryo chromosomes, sperm factors, every uterine condition, or all reasons an embryo may not implant, and treatment recommendations should be interpreted with the wider clinical picture.

Confirm the medication schedule and biopsy date with the fertility clinic. Tell the team about pregnancy possibility, allergies, infection symptoms, and medicines that affect bleeding. You may be advised to take specific pain relief beforehand. After sampling, use pads if spotting occurs, follow instructions about sex and activity, and ask how the result could alter the timing of a future transfer.

Seek advice for increasing pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, fever, chills, foul-smelling discharge, faintness, or feeling acutely unwell after the biopsy. Urgent assessment is needed for severe pain, collapse, or breathing difficulty.
