What to expect from dermal fillers for nasolabial folds

Nasolabial folds, often called smile lines, extend from the sides of the nose toward the corners of the mouth. Their depth can reflect facial movement, skin laxity, and changes in support around the cheeks and nose. Filler may soften the fold directly or support a nearby area, depending on your anatomy. The treatment changes contour; it does not stop smiling or remove every skin crease.

A tailored plan may use a small amount in more than one location or recommend another option.

Follow the clinic’s preparation guidance and do not stop prescribed medicines without advice. After injection, temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, or firmness can occur. Keep hands away from the area, use only recommended products, and follow instructions about makeup, heat, exercise, and sun exposure. Early swelling can make the folds look uneven, so allow the planned settling period before judging the result.
