The clinician may ask when symptoms began, how they change through the day, and whether activity causes a delayed worsening. They can review fatigue, breathlessness, pain, sleep, concentration, mood, dizziness, and changes in smell or taste. Bring a list of medicines, test results, and any symptom notes. The review is also a chance to consider work, study, exercise, personal care, and emotional wellbeing rather than focusing on one symptom alone.

Before the appointment, note your main difficulty and what makes it better or worse. Ask which activities should be paced, what gentle movement is appropriate, and when to reassess progress. Your plan may include monitoring, referrals, rehabilitation support, help with sleep or mood, and advice about returning to activities gradually. Do not push through a marked symptom flare; report changes that prevent ordinary tasks.

Seek urgent medical help for severe breathing difficulty, new chest pain, fainting, sudden weakness, new confusion, or blue or grey lips. Contact your clinician promptly if symptoms suddenly worsen, you cannot keep fluids down, or you are becoming unable to manage basic daily activities.
