What to expect from chemical peel for acanthosis nigricans

Acanthosis nigricans often creates darker, thicker, velvety skin in folds such as the neck, armpits, or groin. Before a peel, the clinician checks whether the appearance fits this condition and looks for irritation or another cause of darkening. The product and contact time should be chosen for the body area and your skin type.

During application you may feel tingling, warmth, or stinging. Afterwards, the skin may be red, tight, dry, or flaky.
