Helicobacter pylori can irritate the stomach lining and may contribute to ulcers or indigestion. Acid-reducing treatment changes the stomach environment and can ease burning or discomfort, but it does not replace the infection-clearing medicines in the prescribed regimen. Symptoms can improve before the infection has been removed, so do not use symptom relief as proof that treatment is complete.

Follow the full plan exactly, including the acid medicine and any antibiotics. Use each dose at the instructed time and ask before taking antacids, supplements, or other medicines alongside it. Nausea, altered taste, loose stools, or stomach discomfort can occur with combination treatment; report troublesome effects so the prescriber can advise you. A follow-up test may be recommended after treatment to check whether the infection has cleared.

Get urgent help for vomiting blood, black stools, severe abdominal pain, fainting, or difficulty swallowing. Contact your prescriber promptly for a severe rash, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, persistent vomiting, or diarrhoea that is severe or contains blood.
