What is triamcinolone acetonide used for?

This medicine quiets inflammatory activity in the skin. Depending on its formulation and the diagnosis, it may be prescribed for an inflamed rash or delivered into a raised, thickened or symptomatic lesion. An injection places a small amount at a targeted site rather than treating every skin problem.

The strength, amount, route and treatment interval matter. Steroids can thin skin, alter colour, leave a depression or affect nearby tissue when used inappropriately, so the same product is not suitable for every body area or condition.

Arrange prompt medical review for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, fever, worsening pain or a wound that is not settling after treatment. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty or sudden facial swelling. A rapidly enlarging lesion or one that changes despite treatment needs reassessment rather than another steroid dose.
