What is the first treatment tried for long covid?

Long COVID can affect energy, breathing, concentration, sleep, mood, or more than one body system. There is no single medicine that suits every presentation. A clinician reviews symptoms, daily function, previous illness, and possible alternative explanations. The plan may include symptom management, support with daily activities, and gradual review rather than pushing through a flare.

Keep a record of symptoms, activity, sleep, and delayed worsening. Break tasks into manageable periods, rest before exhaustion, and increase activity only when your body tolerates the current level. Maintain fluids and regular meals where possible. Arrange a GP or chronic disease review if symptoms persist or interfere with normal life.

Seek urgent help for severe or rapidly worsening breathlessness, new chest pain, fainting, sudden weakness on one side, new confusion, or blue or grey lips. These symptoms should not automatically be attributed to Long COVID and need prompt assessment.
