What is the first treatment tried for frown lines?

Frown lines, also called glabellar lines, form when the muscles between the eyebrows contract during expressions such as concentrating or frowning. Botulinum toxin injections reduce muscle activity in carefully selected points, so the overlying skin may crease less during movement.

The effect develops over several days and fades as muscle activity returns. Dermal fillers work differently: they add volume beneath a crease and may be discussed when a line remains visible at rest or has a noticeable depression. A filler is not automatically the right choice for the central brow area.
