Cradle cap, also called infantile seborrheic dermatitis, causes greasy or flaky scale on a baby’s scalp. It is often mild and does not reflect poor hygiene. An emollient is a moisturising product placed on the scale for a short time so the flakes become easier to lift. The aim is to release scale without scratching or pulling at the skin.
