What Is Benzoyl Peroxide Used For?

Benzoyl peroxide works on the skin surface and inside blocked follicles. It reduces bacteria linked with inflamed spots, loosens the buildup that contributes to clogged pores, and can reduce inflammation. It may be used for blackheads, whiteheads, and red or pus-filled spots, alone or as part of a wider acne plan.

Dryness, peeling, redness, or stinging are common reasons people stop too soon. The product can also bleach fabrics, towels, and hair, so allow it to dry and use light-coloured bedding or clothing where needed.

Use a small amount on clean, dry skin according to the product or clinician instructions. Start less often if your skin is sensitive, then increase only as tolerated.
