What is antifungal treatment for thrush done with?

Thrush is an overgrowth of Candida yeast that can cause itching, soreness, redness, and a thick discharge. Clotrimazole can be used locally as a vaginal tablet or cream, and may also be used on irritated external skin. Fluconazole is taken by mouth in situations where it is suitable. The choice depends on pregnancy, other medicines, health conditions, symptoms, and whether the diagnosis is clear. These medicines target yeast; they do not treat every cause of vaginal discharge or irritation.

Use the medicine exactly as directed and complete the recommended course. Avoid inserting products or washing inside the vagina, because this can irritate tissue.
