What is adalimumab used for?

Adalimumab is a laboratory-made antibody that blocks tumour necrosis factor, an inflammatory messenger involved in several immune-mediated conditions. In dermatology, a specialist may consider it when a suitable inflammatory skin disease is active and other treatment choices are not enough, not tolerated, or inappropriate. It is given by injection and works throughout the body, so screening and monitoring matter before and during treatment. It is not an antibiotic and does not treat every rash.

Tell the prescriber about infections, tuberculosis exposure, liver disease, immune problems, cancer history, pregnancy plans, and every medicine or vaccine you use. Report unusual bruising, yellowing of the skin, or new neurologic symptoms rather than waiting for the next appointment.
