What If Under-Eye Filler Does Not Relieve Dark Circles?

Under-eye filler is designed mainly to soften a hollow that creates shadow. It may not change brown pigment, bluish visible vessels, thin skin, puffiness, allergies, rubbing, or lighting-related contrast. Several causes can be present together. Filler can also create swelling or a bluish cast if it sits close to the surface, making the area look different rather than brighter.

Contact the injector for an assessment and describe when the appearance changed, whether it varies through the day, and whether swelling, tenderness, lumps, or colour changes are present. Do not massage, add another injectable treatment, or use a dissolving medicine unless the treating clinician directs you. Manage rubbing and known allergy triggers, and use gentle skin care around the eyes. The plan may be observation, treatment of an underlying eye-area problem, adjustment, or a different approach.

Get urgent medical help for sudden vision change, severe eye pain, a pale or dusky patch of skin, rapidly increasing swelling, marked redness, or new difficulty moving the eye after filler. These symptoms need prompt assessment and should not be managed by waiting for the cosmetic result to settle.

Ask whether the remaining darkness is shadow, pigment, vessels, swelling, or a combination; whether the filler position is satisfactory; and when review is appropriate. Ask which symptoms require urgent contact and whether another treatment could worsen puffiness or colour.
