What If Scalp Micropigmentation Does Not Relieve Thinning Hair?

Scalp micropigmentation places pigment in the scalp to create the visual impression of closely cut follicles or greater density. It does not stimulate follicles, treat inflammation, or correct the underlying reason hair is thinning. Hair loss may be related to inherited pattern loss, shedding after illness or stress, nutritional problems, hormonal changes, medicines, or a scalp disorder. Pigment can therefore look acceptable while the underlying thinning continues, or the result may look less natural as hair density changes.

Arrange an assessment with a dermatologist or clinician experienced in hair loss. Bring a list of medicines, recent illnesses, diet changes, family history, and the date thinning began. Ask whether the scalp shows scale, redness, scarring, broken hairs, or patchy loss; these findings can change the treatment plan. Avoid adding strong scalp products or another cosmetic session before the diagnosis is clear. Take consistent photographs of the parting, temples, and crown to document change over time.

Seek prompt medical assessment for sudden patchy loss, scalp pain, marked redness, pus, heavy scaling, bleeding, or shiny areas where follicle openings seem absent. Rapid shedding with fatigue, weight change, or other new symptoms also warrants a clinical review. Contact the practitioner for swelling, blistering, spreading redness, or colour changes after micropigmentation.
