What if myomectomy does not relieve pelvic pain?

Pain after surgery can come from healing tissues, muscle tension, constipation, or irritation around the pelvis. Fibroids may not have been the only source, and conditions involving the womb lining, pelvic organs, bladder, or bowel can cause similar discomfort. The location, timing, triggers, and character of the pain matter. Pain during sex, urinary symptoms, bowel changes, fever, or new bleeding can point the assessment in different directions.

Keep a record of pain intensity in words, its location, when it occurs, movement or cycle triggers, and what helps. Follow the discharge instructions and take medicines only as directed. At review, your clinician may examine the abdomen and pelvis, assess the wound, and arrange tests or imaging when indicated. Treatment might involve adjusting pain relief, addressing bowel or bladder problems, physiotherapy, or investigating another pelvic condition.

Seek urgent care for sudden severe pain, a hard or swollen abdomen, faintness, heavy bleeding, fever, repeated vomiting, or difficulty passing urine. A worsening wound, spreading redness, or foul-smelling discharge also needs prompt medical attention. Do not wait for a routine appointment when pain is escalating quickly.
