What if microneedling does not relieve large pores?

Microneedling creates controlled tiny injuries that encourage collagen remodeling, so visible texture changes develop gradually rather than immediately. Pores can also look larger when oil, dehydration, acne, inflammation, or light reflecting from uneven skin is involved. Treatment depth, spacing, aftercare, and the underlying concern all affect the result. Persistent pores do not by themselves show that the skin is damaged or that the procedure has failed.

Arrange a review with the clinician who performed the treatment, especially if you have completed the planned sessions without meaningful change. Take clear photos in similar lighting and bring the dates of treatments, products used during healing, and any history of acne or irritation. Do not increase treatment intensity or repeat sessions on your own. A clinician may first address oiliness, acne, sensitivity, or uneven pigmentation and then decide whether microneedling remains suitable.

Contact a clinician promptly for worsening redness, increasing warmth, pus, spreading pain, fever, blisters, or marked swelling after microneedling. Seek urgent help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty or a rapidly spreading rash. These signs need assessment for infection, an allergic reaction, or another complication rather than another cosmetic session.

Ask whether the visible pores are mainly related to oil, acne scarring, dehydration, or another texture change; whether your treatment settings and healing period were appropriate; and which alternatives fit your skin type. Ask what improvement is realistic, how long to wait before reassessment, and which symptoms should stop further treatment.
