A transplant moves selected follicles into a new area; it does not stop every form of hair loss or treat an undiagnosed scalp disease. Early changes can be difficult to judge while the scalp heals and transplanted hairs cycle through shedding and regrowth. Persistent gaps may relate to graft survival, placement, ongoing loss in surrounding hair, or a condition that causes patchy hair loss. Examination and photographs over time help separate these possibilities.

Contact the transplant team or a dermatologist for a structured review. Share the procedure date, aftercare instructions, medicines, and photographs from before and after the procedure. Ask whether the area is healed, whether grafts are growing, and whether the original diagnosis still fits. Avoid rubbing, picking, or starting another procedure while the scalp is being assessed. Further treatment should follow a clear explanation of the cause and realistic goals.

Seek prompt assessment for increasing pain, spreading redness, warmth, pus, fever, heavy crusting, or a rapidly enlarging smooth patch. Arrange review for ongoing patchiness, scarring, or loss in areas that were not transplanted. These signs may require treatment of inflammation or infection before any discussion of additional grafting.
