Tell the oncology team about new or worsening symptoms before the next treatment decision. Use prescribed exercises and aids, wear well-fitting shoes, keep pathways clear, and use handrails. Check bath water with an unaffected area or a thermometer because reduced sensation can hide heat injury. Inspect skin and feet for blisters or cuts, avoid bare feet and sharp tools, and ask about medication for nerve pain. Do not change cancer treatment or start supplements on your own.

Seek urgent assessment for sudden one-sided weakness or numbness, new loss of bladder or bowel control, inability to walk, rapidly ascending numbness, severe weakness, or trouble breathing. Contact the care team promptly for falls, burns, infected wounds, worsening balance, or difficulty fastening clothes, holding objects, or climbing steps. Early reporting can help reduce preventable injury and guide changes in support.
