What if Botox does not relieve fine lines?

Botulinum toxin injections reduce activity in selected muscles. They tend to help lines that become more visible when you frown, squint, or raise your brows. Lines that remain while the face is relaxed may also reflect changes in the skin surface, sun exposure, dryness, or reduced fullness. The injection pattern, dose, placement, and timing can also affect the result. Fine lines may soften gradually rather than disappear, and the treated area may need review once the effect has had time to develop.

Arrange a follow-up with the qualified professional who performed the injections. Bring a clear description of when you noticed the result and whether the lines change with facial expression. Do not arrange an extra dose or use another product before the area is assessed. Your clinician may discuss a different injection plan, skincare for texture and dryness, sun protection, or another procedure if the lines are not mainly movement-related. Follow the aftercare instructions you were given and avoid comparing the treated area immediately after treatment with heavily edited images.

Contact your injector promptly for marked eyelid or brow drooping, significant asymmetry, spreading weakness, trouble swallowing, breathing difficulty, or a severe allergic reaction. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, faintness, or rapidly worsening swelling. These symptoms need medical assessment and should not be managed by repeating injections.

Ask whether your lines are mainly expression lines or visible at rest, when the result should be reviewed, whether the treatment plan matches the muscles involved, and which non-injection options may address texture or sun-related change.
