What happens after DEXA scan?

After a DEXA scan, you can usually return to normal activities while a clinician reviews the bone-density results and plans follow-up. The scan itself does not treat weak bones; it provides information for a wider assessment.

The report compares bone density with reference values and is interpreted alongside age, fracture history, medicines, health conditions, and risk of falling. A result is not a complete prediction of an individual’s future. Your clinician may explain whether monitoring, lifestyle measures, or treatment is appropriate.

Keep the follow-up appointment and bring a list of medicines and supplements, including any steroid use.
