What does vaginal discharge feel like with cervical ectropion?

Cervical ectropion happens when soft, delicate cells from inside the cervix are visible on its outer surface. These cells can produce extra mucus. You may notice a clear, white, or slightly yellow discharge with a slippery, moist, or mucus-like texture. Some people also see a small amount of blood after sex or between periods because the exposed cells can bleed easily. Discharge alone cannot identify the cause, since normal cycle changes and infections can feel similar.

Note the colour, texture, smell, and timing of the discharge, including whether it changes after sex or around your period. Avoid douching and scented washes, which can irritate the vagina and make symptoms harder to interpret. Arrange a clinical assessment if the discharge is new, persistent, unpleasant-smelling, or accompanied by itching, burning, pain, or bleeding. A clinician may examine the cervix and check for infection before discussing whether any treatment is needed.

Seek prompt medical care for severe or worsening pelvic pain, fever, vomiting, feeling faint, or heavy bleeding. These symptoms need assessment because they can point to an infection or another pelvic problem rather than cervical ectropion alone.
