What does unexplained fever feel like with leukaemia?

Leukaemia can interfere with healthy blood-cell production and weaken the body's response to infection. Fever may therefore occur with a cough, sore throat, mouth soreness, urinary symptoms, or no clear symptom at all. Some people feel shivery first and flushed later; others notice exhaustion or night sweating more than heat. These sensations overlap with many illnesses, so they cannot confirm leukaemia by themselves.

Use a thermometer, record the reading and time, and contact your doctor or leukaemia team promptly if the fever is new, recurring, or unexplained. Mention recent treatment, medicines, chills, bleeding, bruising, breathlessness, or pain. Rest and drink if able, but do not self-start antibiotics or assume that a fever has passed because sweating has stopped.

Follow the temperature threshold your team has given you. Seek urgent assessment for fever with confusion, faintness, breathing difficulty, chest pain, severe weakness, uncontrolled bleeding, or a rapidly worsening condition.
