What do swollen lymph nodes feel like with lymphoma?

Lymph nodes can swell in the neck, chest, armpit, abdomen, or groin. Some are easy to feel; others cause pressure or are found on a scan. They may occur singly or in groups and may not hurt when touched. Similar swelling can happen with infections and other conditions, so texture and location cannot establish a diagnosis.

Record the location and size as best you can without repeatedly pressing the area. Note changes, fever, drenching night sweats, itching, fatigue, or unexplained weight change. Book an appointment for persistent or enlarging swelling. Assessment may include an examination, blood tests, imaging, and tissue sampling when needed.

Contact a clinician promptly if swelling grows, feels fixed, or is above the collarbone. Seek urgent help if swelling affects breathing or swallowing, or if you develop marked weakness or rapidly worsening symptoms.
