What does skin rash feel like with intertrigo?

Skin Rash is a common presentation of Intertrigo. Friction between touching surfaces, warmth, and trapped moisture can soften and inflame the skin. The fold may feel tender when walking, moving, or washing, and the surface can look red, shiny, cracked, or moist. Intertrigo commonly affects the underarms, groin, under the breasts, abdomen, or between other touching skin surfaces. A yeast or bacterial overgrowth can sometimes add itch, odour, small surrounding spots, drainage, or worsening soreness.

Gently cleanse the fold and pat it completely dry. Wear loose, breathable clothing and change damp garments promptly. Reduce rubbing where possible and avoid fragranced products on broken skin. Do not share towels, and wash clothing that becomes sweaty. If the rash keeps returning, a clinician can check for infection and recommend a suitable barrier or targeted treatment rather than relying on one product for every cause.
