What Do Skin Lumps Feel Like With Neurofibroma?

A neurofibroma is a growth involving nerve tissue. A lump may sit within the skin or just below it, and some can feel as though they move slightly when touched. People may notice one lump or several, with size and texture varying across the body.

Tenderness, tingling, itching, or an electric feeling can occur when a growth affects a nearby nerve. The feel of a lump alone cannot confirm its cause, because cysts, lipomas, and other skin changes can feel similar. A clinical examination helps sort these possibilities.
