What does skin blisters feel like with chickenpox?

Skin Blisters is a very common presentation of Chickenpox. The rash often begins as itchy spots that become small fluid-filled blisters. New spots can appear while earlier blisters are clouding, drying, and forming scabs, so different stages may be visible at once. Scratching can make the skin more painful and can open the surface.

Chickenpox can resemble other blistering rashes, so a clinician may consider exposure history, fever, the distribution of the rash, vaccination history, and overall health. A blistering rash does not identify its cause by itself.

Keep fingernails short and wash hands often. Use cool bathing or a clean cool compress for itch, wear loose clothing, and avoid scratching or picking scabs.
