Uterine sarcoma begins in muscle or other supporting tissue of the uterus. Bleeding can occur between otherwise symptom-free days, after sex, or as a discharge mixed with blood. Some people also notice pelvic or abdominal pain, a feeling of fullness, pressure, or a growing abdomen. Similar symptoms can come from fibroids, polyps, hormonal changes, medicines, or other gynaecological conditions, so the sensation and amount of blood are not enough to identify the cause.

Arrange an assessment

Contact a gynaecologist or primary-care clinician promptly about any bleeding after menopause. Record the timing, colour, amount, clots, pain, pressure, discharge, and medicines you take. The clinician may examine the vagina and cervix, assess the uterus with imaging, or arrange sampling if needed. Bring details of previous fibroids, uterine procedures, hormone use, and other health conditions.

When to seek urgent help

Go to urgent care if bleeding is heavy, does not settle, or makes you dizzy, faint, breathless, or markedly weak. Seek immediate help for severe pelvic pain, fever, or sudden worsening. If symptoms are mild, still book a timely appointment rather than waiting for another episode.
