What does painful urination feel like with prostatitis?

Painful Urination is a very common presentation of Prostatitis, often felt as burning with pelvic pressure or difficulty starting the urine stream. You may feel pain at the tip of the penis, behind the scrotum, in the lower abdomen, or in the lower back. Urgency, a weak stream, and discomfort after urination can occur as well.

Prostatitis means inflammation of the prostate. In some cases it is linked with a bacterial urinary infection; in others, pelvic muscles and nerves contribute to ongoing symptoms without a clear infection. Swelling or irritation around the prostate can affect urine flow and cause pain with ejaculation.
