What does operative hysteroscopy treat?

A thin hysteroscope passes through the vagina and cervix, allowing the clinician to see the uterine cavity and use small instruments. Treatment may cut scar tissue in Asherman Syndrome, remove a fibroid projecting into the cavity, open a uterine septum, or remove a polyp. The finding must match the proposed procedure; this operation does not treat every cause of pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, or recurrent miscarriage.

Ask which finding was confirmed and how it affects bleeding or fertility plans. Discuss anaesthesia, medicines, pregnancy possibility, recovery, and when normal activity can resume. If fertility is the goal, ask when attempts to conceive may restart.

Contact the care team for heavy bleeding, worsening pelvic pain, fever, faintness, or unpleasant-smelling discharge. Sudden severe pain, collapse, or breathing difficulty needs urgent attention. Mild cramping and light bleeding can occur, but follow your discharge instructions.
