What do muscle aches feel like with chikungunya?

Aching may involve the back, arms, legs, or several areas at once. It can feel heavy, tender, or worse when moving, while joint pain may be more noticeable around the hands, feet, ankles, or knees. Fever, headache, rash, and marked tiredness can occur around the same illness. Symptoms vary, and muscle aches alone cannot establish the cause.

Chikungunya is spread by infected mosquitoes. Tell a clinician about recent mosquito exposure, travel, fever onset, rash, and joint symptoms so chikungunya can be considered alongside other causes of fever and body aches.

Rest, drink fluids regularly, and use only pain or fever medicine that is suitable for you.
