The discomfort may be steady or come in waves, with a heavy feeling in the limbs or soreness after ordinary activity. Some people also notice joint pain, chills, sweating, headache, reduced appetite, or unusual fatigue. Symptoms can fluctuate, so record when aches begin, which areas are affected, and whether fever or other symptoms occur at the same time.

Brucellosis can follow contact with infected animals or unpasteurised dairy products. Muscle aches alone have many possible causes, including viral illness, exertion, or medication effects, so the symptom cannot identify the cause by itself.

Rest, drink fluids, and avoid strenuous exercise while you feel unwell. Arrange medical advice if aches persist, recur with fever, or follow a possible animal or food exposure.
