Short answer

Missed Period is a common presentation of Hyperprolactinaemia. You may simply notice that bleeding does not arrive, or that cycles become irregular, with possible breast discharge, breast fullness, headache, or vision changes.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What the change may mean

Hyperprolactinaemia means prolactin levels are higher than expected. Prolactin can interfere with the hormone signals that coordinate ovulation and menstruation. As a result, a missed period may come without a distinctive sensation: the main clue is the absent bleeding. Some people also notice lighter or less predictable periods, reduced fertility, vaginal dryness, or lower sexual desire.

Milky breast discharge can occur even without breastfeeding, but its presence is not required. Medicines, pregnancy, thyroid problems, stress, and other conditions can also alter periods, so the symptom needs an assessment rather than a self-diagnosis.

What to do next

Take a pregnancy test when pregnancy is possible, and record the date your last period began. Write down any breast discharge, headaches, visual symptoms, medicines, supplements, and changes in exercise or weight. Do not squeeze the nipples repeatedly to check for discharge, because stimulation can encourage more discharge.

Book a medical appointment for a missed or repeatedly irregular period, particularly if breast discharge is present. A clinician may review medicines and request hormone or thyroid testing; further evaluation depends on your symptoms and examination.

When to seek care

Seek urgent care for a sudden or severe headache, new loss of vision, double vision, confusion, fainting, or weakness. These symptoms need prompt assessment, especially when they occur with menstrual changes or breast discharge.

Arrange routine care if periods remain absent, become repeatedly irregular, or are accompanied by persistent breast discharge, vaginal dryness, or fertility concerns. Mention whether discharge is spontaneous, one-sided, bloody, or associated with a lump.

Questions for your doctor

Could a medicine or another hormone problem be affecting my period? Should my prolactin and thyroid hormones be checked? What should I do about breast discharge? Do my headaches or vision symptoms change how quickly I need assessment?
