What does knee pain feel like with baker's cyst?

Knee Pain is a common presentation of Baker's Cyst. You may notice fullness, tightness, or a rounded swelling in the hollow behind the knee. Walking, bending deeply, or straightening fully can increase the pressure. The discomfort may be mild at rest and more noticeable after activity. A Baker's Cyst often develops alongside another knee problem that causes extra joint fluid, so the front or side of the knee may hurt as well.

A lump behind the knee has several possible causes. A clinical examination helps distinguish a cyst from other soft-tissue or blood-vessel problems.

Avoid movements that sharply increase pressure and choose gentle activity within comfort. Rest with the leg supported when it feels swollen, and do not massage or puncture a lump behind the knee yourself. Arrange medical assessment if swelling or pain continues, returns repeatedly, or limits walking. Treatment focuses on the cyst and the knee problem contributing to fluid build-up.

Seek urgent care for sudden calf swelling, warmth, redness, or severe pain, particularly if walking becomes difficult. Breathlessness or chest pain is an emergency. A hot, red knee with fever, sudden inability to bear weight, or rapidly increasing swelling also needs prompt assessment.
