What does joint pain feel like with brucellosis?

Pain may affect the lower back, hips, knees, ankles, or other joints. One joint can become sore and swollen, while several areas may ache at the same time. Stiffness may be worse after rest and movement may feel restricted. Brucellosis can also cause fever, sweats, chills, unusual tiredness, headache, or reduced appetite. Joint symptoms may linger after the initial fever, so the timing and any exposure to unpasteurised dairy products or infected animals are useful details for a clinician.

Arrange a medical assessment if joint pain occurs with a recurring fever, sweats, or a relevant animal or food exposure. Rest the painful area without keeping it completely still, use gentle movement within comfort, and drink fluids. Avoid taking leftover antibiotics because the choice and duration of treatment need medical supervision.
